Preserve your watch

Your personal watch needs your attention

Next to the fact that your watch carries your story, it is also a beautiful precision instrument. With lots of tiny parts and with incredible fine techniques.

Your watch needs your care.

Of course, your life is adventurous. But take good care. You have to avoid strong shocks. Such as dropping on hard surfaces. Your watch is a delicate precision instrument.

Your watch is water resistant. But not forever. Prevent it from bathing, use in the sauna. Do not pull out the crown when you are in the water. Always rinse the watch with clean, fresh water (not directly under running water) and dry with a soft cloth. Also remember you wear a leather strap. Leather and water is a bad combination.

Do not use solvents or chemicals (i.e. benzine, thinner, bleach) for cleaning a watch. This may cause a chemical reaction and result in deterioration of the watch or a change in the color of the case and strap.

You are the proud owner of your watch. And you want to pass it on. So clean it. Wipe off moisture, sweat or dirt with a soft cloth after removing it from the wrist to increase the durability of the case back, gaskets and band.

The weather is great. But your watch is affected by extreme temperature and by extreme changes in temperature. High temperatures will affect the water resistance. Also avoid the strap from exposure to heat, to obtain the best colour.

We all know magnetic fields. But why is this relevant for your watch? Magnetism may disturb your mechanical watch and affect the functioning by making the spring of the movement stick. You are therefore recommended to avoid magnetic fields on a permanent basis.

Turn the crown from time to time in order to prevent corrosion of the crown and maintain the flexibility of the gasket. With a handwinder, not a problem. When you wear your automatic watch day, day out, you should really consider this.
